Notes:  Similar to the DIDO class (of which they are sometimes considered members), the BELLONA class had the absence of rake to funnels and masts, and an additional 5.25" mount was never planned for.  All five BELLONAs were fitted as flagships.  BLACK PRINCE had two single 40mm Bofors added in 1944 and six more in 1945; by war's end, 22 - 20mm AA guns had been added.  Served with Home Fleet, 1943-44; Mediterranean Fleet, 1944; Pacific Fleet, 1945.  Transferred to New Zealand, 1948, where she became the fleet flagship.  BLACK PRINCE was returned to the RN in 1956.  Sold for scrap and broken up in March, 1962.
