Sister ships: INDOMPTABLE, REQUIN, TERRIBLE
Notes: The four ships of this class bore little resemblance to their direct ancestor, AMIRAL DUPERR╔ and were of moderately low freeboard. The complete belt was almost entirely submerged at normal load. The barbette bases were unarmored except for the tube which was taken to the armor deck. The 16.5" guns were slow firing. In 1898, CA¤MAN was rearmed with 2-10.8" / 40 cal. guns in center pivot turrets, while the lighter guns were replaced by 6-3.9" and 14-3 pdr., while the TT were reduced from four to two. Following service, CA¤MAN was scrapped in 1927.
