My first 1:1200 scale model was a G201 GNEISENAU,
purchased back in 1967. Since then, I've collected (literally)
hundreds of different models, many of them more detailed -- but I have a
"soft spot" for the Superior models.
Over the years, I've seen models "come and go"
from production; and at some point, I decided I would try to make an
"all-time list" of Superior's models, sorted by number.
I've checked some old catalogs I've kept, and added new models from their
website and as they've announced new production. And I've noted some
"gaps" in their numbering system. A few years ago, I
contacted Pete Paschall at ALNAVCO
about those "gaps" in their numbering system -- would he be able
to "fill in" what some of those "missing numbers"
were. Mr. Paschall replied that they didn't have an
"all-time" listing at hand of their models by model number.
I've made use of the listing on ALNAVCO's website, as well
as the lists at Galerie Maritim
(and a tip of the hat to Jeffery Simpson, who sent that list to me), as
well as listings from some old Alnavco catalogs (courtesy of Fred Doris, Don Hood, Aryeh
Wetherhorn and the late Ingo Holm -- thank you very much to each of you, as well as others who've
sent me notes!!)
The largest portion was from ALNAVCO's website, with some
"fill-in's" from Galerie Maritim and some lists mailed to me.. But still... there are
"gaps"...
If you can help me "fill in" those
"gaps" -- I would appreciate receiving an e-mail
from you!
Or -- if you know of a number assigned to a model that I
know about, but don't know the number (most came from the 1963 Superior
Catalog, marked with ???) -- please send it along.
Superior's overall scheme is relatively simple -- a
letter, followed by a three-digit number. The letter (generally)
indicates the country:
The letter is followed by the three-digit number; the first digit
indicates the type, while the second and third are assigned to a
particular model.
Here is my current list... but see the note at the bottom for a few
"discrepancies"...

MARUS - MERCHANT SHIPS |
| For the "Marus" --
when two years are listed, the first is the year the ship was built,
while the second is it's "appearance" year. Number
at in in parentheses is # in class, according to 1965 Superior
Catalog. Also -- when I've seen the model listed under

| Other merchant ships listed in
the 1965 Superior Catalog include several with "generic"
names; I've listed them here. In the
1965 catalog, they are listed as "Internationally Known
Merchant Ships". Thanks to information sent to me by Fred
Doris, I've matched the "generic" name with the
"Actual model # and name". However, two ships are
listed as Hospital Ships; I've included both in "my" list. |

Note: Jeffery Simpson sent me a picture of what appears to be a
Superior Model of a German T-1 class torpedo boat of World War II
vintage. But... it is a Superior -- or could it be a Comet or an

The T-1 class is listed in the 1963 Superior Catalog -- thanks to Don Hood
for sending me a copy!!
And then, what happens when "sources" do not agree? When comparing the list on ALNAVCO's website vs. the list
on Galerie Maritim's website -- there are a few places they disagree:
